EcoSci was founded in early 1994, and rapidly established itself as one of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of composting – processing and recycling a wide range of organic wastes - with the emphasis on environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions. EcoSci’s core activity is composting some 55,000 tonnes per year of garden waste throughout Devon, UK. This is green waste composted directly on some 50 farms, spread throughout the county, and at the company’s site in Plymouth, where West Country Compost and ZooPoo are produced.
These branded products have both PAS 100 accreditation and is recognised by the Soil Association, and are thus well suited for organic farmers and horticulturists. West Country Compost and Paignton Zoo Poo are available from many retail outlets throughout the West Country and from Coblands Nurseries around the South East. EcoSci’s customers include landscapers, golf courses, professional growers and domestic gardeners.
EcoSci is located on the campus of the University of Exeter, and has a strong scientific bias, having its own laboratories that are used extensively both for research and quality control. EcoSci has undertaken various collaborative research projects, working with universities and research establishments in the UK and overseas – twice receiving SMART awards for innovative work in the field of disease suppression.
